Gideon Falkner

Gideon Falkner is the final boss of every run in BO7 Endgame. He is a Guild scientist and bio-engineer located at a coastal island facility in Zone IV of Avalon. Defeating Falkner is the ultimate objective of Endgame and one of two encounters that guarantee an Exotic Cache drop every time (the other is the Mega Abomination).

Doctor Gideon Falkner was handpicked by Emma Kagan to lead The Guild’s bio-engineering team. Years of working with neurotoxins made him paranoid and unstable, but he is still a dangerous operative. Falkner retreated to his coastal base in Avalon and resumed his effort to flood the region with Cradle toxin. In his final confrontation, Falkner tells Specter One that Dorne will succeed where Kagan failed before being killed.

During the Endgame confrontation, Mozart’s “Symphony No. 40” (Molto allegro) plays over the island’s speaker system.

Falkner is located at his island facility in Zone IV of Avalon, accessible via the Toxin Source Activity. Zone IV has a recommended Combat Rating of CR 45.

The Toxin Source activity is listed among the Activities players can identify on the tac map. You can find it at a fixed island location in Zone IV. Completing the activity and then interacting with Falkner’s body to “confirm kill and escape” triggers the closing cinematic for that run.

Falkner does not appear immediately when you arrive at the island. You need to fill the Toxin Source progress bar to 100% before he spawns. There are multiple ways to fill the bar:

  • Destroy spores scattered around the island. These glowing organic growths (sometimes called “flowers” by the community) are the fastest way to build progress.
  • Kill zombies and Fear enemies that spawn on the island. Each kill adds a smaller amount of progress.
  • Kill mini-bosses and elite enemies that appear during the encounter.

You can use any combination of these methods to reach 100%. Focusing on spores is the most efficient approach. You do not need to stop and clear enemies between spores. Just keep moving around the island, destroying every spore you find, and the bar fills quickly.

Once the bar reaches 100%, Falkner himself spawns on the island and the boss fight begins.

Dr. Falkner boss fight with Toxin Source at 100% progress

The Falkner fight uses standard player-vs-enemy mechanics rather than a structured boss encounter with set phases.

Enemy presence: Falkner is not fought alone. Enemies remain in the area throughout the encounter, requiring players to manage multiple threats simultaneously.

Positioning: The island facility layout provides cover positions for both players and enemies. Falkner does not have a fixed patrol path and can move freely around the facility. Rooftops and elevated positions give you a clear line of sight while keeping distance from Fear enemies.

The Toxin Source Activity and Falkner fight are Zone IV content, making CR 45+ the recommended threshold for a clean fight. At CR 55+, the encounter is straightforward for a full squad with exotic-rarity weapons.

Sharpshooter is a strong choice here. Falkner has no weak point, but Sharpshooter makes all chest hits count as crits. No need to aim for a specific spot.

Defeating Gideon Falkner always drops a guaranteed Exotic Weapon Case (Exotic Cache). This is the most consistent source of named exotic weapons in the game, obtainable once per run on every successful Falkner kill.

The Exotic Cache provides a random named exotic from the available pool. For the full list of named exotics and their base weapons, see Named Exotics.

After killing Falkner, interact with his body to confirm the kill and escape. This triggers the closing cinematic and counts as completing Endgame’s core objective.
