Root Crasher
Root Crasher is a Glitch Fracture in BO7 Endgame. It predates the current story acts, so it is one of the earliest Fractures in the mode rather than the finale of a numbered Operation like Link Forger, Virus Injection, Command Killer, or Prime Target.
Like every Glitch Fracture, it uses a campaign-style space, runs through a series of waves, and ends in a boss encounter. Squad members present at the entry point are pulled in together, and multiple squads can run it within the same match once it is revealed.
How it fits the Glitch Fracture roster
Section titled “How it fits the Glitch Fracture roster”Community sources list five Glitch Fractures in total: Root Crasher, Link Forger, Virus Injection, Command Killer, and Prime Target. Root Crasher is the odd one out because it is not attached to one of the four story Operations. For how Fractures are revealed on the Tac Map and entered, see the Glitch Fractures overview.
Entering the Fracture
Section titled “Entering the Fracture”Root Crasher appears as a Glitch Fracture with a recommended Combat Rating of 60. Stepping into the glitch is a one-way commitment: once you enter there is no turning back, and scorestreaks are restricted inside the Fracture. Clearing it pays out a fixed reward on top of anything the run drops.
Entry rewards:
- Data Corruption weapon blueprint
- Patchwork calling card
- 2,500 XP
The six Glitch Waves
Section titled “The six Glitch Waves”Root Crasher runs across six timed Glitch Waves. The early waves take place inside a modern facility, then a mid-run Cradle Shifting event warps the space into a glitched desert town for the finale. Each wave has its own objective and timer.
Wave 1: Secure the zones
Section titled “Wave 1: Secure the zones”The Fracture opens with a zone-capture objective. Secure all three zones before the timer expires while holding off the G-R5 mech and its escorts. Standing in a marked zone fills its capture meter.
Wave 2: Eliminate the HVT presence
Section titled “Wave 2: Eliminate the HVT presence”Two High Value Target enemies spawn. Track and kill both named HVTs before time runs out.
Wave 3: Destroy the Cradle Growths
Section titled “Wave 3: Destroy the Cradle Growths”A TAACOM alert flags Cradle Growths across the area. Destroy all ten glowing growth nodes before the short timer expires.
Wave 4: Eliminate the Titan HVT
Section titled “Wave 4: Eliminate the Titan HVT”Another HVT wave, this time with a Titan among the targets. Clear the HVT presence to advance.
Wave 5: Cradle Shifting
Section titled “Wave 5: Cradle Shifting”A Cradle Shifting event fires and the space glitches into a desert town. Eliminate all hostiles before the timer expires to push into the final wave.
Wave 6: The Z-Rex boss
Section titled “Wave 6: The Z-Rex boss”The final wave is a damage race against the Root Crasher boss, Z-Rex, a corrupted zombie T-Rex that towers over the glitched town. Bring its health bar down before time expires.
Downing Z-Rex clears the Fracture. TAACOM confirms the objective with “severe corruption eliminated.”
Ability Boost farming
Section titled “Ability Boost farming”Root Crasher is one of the spots players call out for Exotic Ability Boosts. The supply chests inside the Fracture can drop boosts, and some players report pulling multiple boosts from the chests in a single Root Crasher run. As with every source, the drop is RNG, so results vary from run to run.
