How to Get and Use Restore Tokens

Restore Tokens are consumable items in Endgame that prevent Combat Rating loss when an operator dies before extracting. Since Season 3, dying without a Restore Token costs 15 CR and strips your equipped weapons, exotic skill, and nightmare skill progress. Spend a token on the elimination screen and everything is preserved.

What Restore Tokens do

A Restore Token is consumed when the operator is eliminated before a successful exfil. Instead of losing all accumulated CR, the operator retains the CR from before the match began. When you die, the elimination screen shows a button to use a Restore Token. Clicking it spends one token and protects your Combat Rating for that death. If you do not have a token or choose not to spend one, the death penalty applies.

Without a Restore Token, dying costs 15 CR and strips your equipped weapons and skill progress from that run.

Caution

Restore Tokens protect against CR loss on death only. They do not prevent CR loss in the following situations:

• Skill Track reset - Resetting a Skill Track reduces CR by approximately 15-16. Restore Tokens cannot prevent this reduction.
• Operator wipe - Wiping an operator resets CR to 0. Restore Tokens have no effect on a wipe.
• Match timer expiry - If the match timer runs out and health drains to zero, CR is lost. A Restore Token does protect against this outcome if the operator goes down from health drain, but only if the token was active.

How to activate a Restore Token

When your operator is eliminated, a “You Have Been Eliminated” screen appears with a short window to use a token. Tokens are obtained from the Battle Pass and operation rewards.

A token is only spent when you confirm it on the elimination screen. Nothing is consumed if you survive and exfil, so carrying tokens between matches costs you nothing.

How to obtain Restore Tokens

Battle Pass

The primary source of Restore Tokens is the seasonal Battle Pass. Tokens appear as rewards on Battle Pass pages across multiple seasons.

Operation rewards

Restore Tokens can also be obtained as rewards from completing specific operation steps in Operation Broken Mirror, Operation Poison Pill, and Operation King Killer.

Loot drops (Season 4 onward)

Since Season 4, Restore Tokens can also drop as loot during a run. This is the main way to get more tokens beyond the Battle Pass and operations, so higher-zone activities and assignments are worth running if you are trying to stockpile them.

When to use a Restore Token

Restore Tokens are most valuable when an operator has a high CR that would be costly to rebuild. Restore Tokens have the highest impact on operators at CR 45 or higher, where the time investment to rebuild CR is significant. On low-CR operators, the rebuild cost is lower and the token value is reduced.

Tip

High-value use case: Operator at CR 55+ running a Nightmare Zone or Glitch Fracture, where death would reset significant progression.

Caution

Low-value use case: Operator at CR 10-20 in Zone I or II, where CR can be rebuilt in one or two matches without a token.
