XP

Endgame has two XP systems: player XP that levels your overall account, and weapon XP that levels individual weapons. Both are separate from Power, which only affects your Combat Rating.

Playing Endgame earns player XP toward your overall Call of Duty level and prestige, just like multiplayer and zombies. Kills, activity completions, and match completions all contribute. Endgame is a viable way to level your account alongside other modes.

Weapon XP tracks the level of your individual weapons. It does not affect your CR, and CR does not affect weapon level.

You earn weapon XP primarily through kills. Enemies killed while the weapon is equipped contribute XP to that weapon. Higher-zone enemies have more health and take more shots to down, which means more XP per kill compared to fast-dying Zone I enemies.

Zone III and Zone IV HVT Elimination Assignments are what most players recommend for weapon XP farming.

Why HVT farming works: HVT enemies have large health pools that require sustained fire to down. Each shot that connects while the weapon is equipped contributes XP. One HVT kill gives more weapon XP than several standard enemy kills because HVTs take more shots to down, and every shot counts toward XP.

Zone IV Low Town loop: A common HVT farming route covers the Zone IV Low Town area, where HVT contracts cycle frequently near the church and surrounding buildings. HVT kills here can also drop Exotic Weapon Cases, so you farm weapon XP and exotics at the same time.

The most-discussed Exotic Skills for XP grinding are Celebration and Conjuration, but the community is split:

  • Celebration triggers Mortar Rounds from equipment hits, but its effectiveness was reduced in a Season 2 patch. It works best when paired with Tactician for frequent equipment use.
  • Conjuration summons Toxin Butterflies that scale with damage upgrades and clear groups fast. More popular for active kill farming, but the butterflies can steal kills from your weapon.
  • Echo Shell and Shattered Shield are alternatives some players prefer for pure weapon XP grinding, since they keep you alive without stealing kills from your weapon.

For the full Exotic Skill descriptions, see Exotic Skills.

Camo grinding doubles as weapon XP grinding. Camo challenges require kills with specific weapons, which generates XP for those weapons at the same time. Run HVT Elimination Assignments with the target weapon while working on camo challenges. This is the fastest way to advance both systems at once.
