Glitch Fracture

Glitch Fractures are special activities in Endgame that take place outside the normal Avalon map. They use spaces from the Black Ops 7 main campaign and challenge players with multiple objectives in a row of escalating difficulty. Completing a Glitch Fracture rewards a Nightmare Skill, the most powerful passive upgrade category in the game.

Two conditions must be met before a Glitch Fracture can be accessed:

  1. Complete Step 10 of Operation Poison Pill. This is the primary gate. Operation Poison Pill is a multi-step operation that must be completed in full before Glitch Fractures become available. This is the most commonly missed prerequisite, with many players attempting Glitch Fractures without having finished the Operation.

  2. Defeat a Guild Strike boss (Guild Strike Activity). Following the boss kill, the location of the nearest Glitch Fracture is revealed on the map. Without completing a Guild Strike in the same match, the Fracture location does not appear.

  1. Complete a Guild Strike Activity to reveal the Glitch Fracture location on the Tac Map.

  2. Travel to the marked Glitch Fracture location. It appears as a glowing portal-like distortion on the ground.

  3. Interact with the Fracture. All squad members present at the entry point are transported into the activity together.

  4. Complete all objectives inside the Glitch Fracture in sequence.

  5. After the final objective, the activity ends and players are immediately exfiled. No manual exfil is required.

The interior of a Glitch Fracture uses spaces from the Black Ops 7 campaign. The layout and enemies reference campaign locations rather than the open Avalon map. The activity is structured as a series of objectives of escalating difficulty.

  • Wave structure: Objectives are completed in sequence. Each successive wave is harder than the last, with more enemies and stronger enemy types, including Elites.
  • Enemy types: Fear variants and Guild enemies both appear inside Glitch Fractures. Late waves include Elite-class enemies. The final wave features the Link Forger (Skybreaker) boss.
  • No extraction during activity: Players cannot manually exfil while inside the Fracture. If all squad members are downed, the activity fails and players return to Avalon without the Nightmare Skill reward.
  • Counts as exfil on completion: Successfully completing a Glitch Fracture ends the match for participating players and counts as a successful exfil. Combat Rating and loadout are preserved.

Glitch Fractures scale in difficulty and are recommended for players at CR 45 or higher. Community members report being able to solo the activity at CR 45+, with the experience becoming comfortable at CR 63+.

Glitch Fractures can be completed solo. Community reports confirm solo completions at CR 45+, though the final boss wave remains challenging without squad support. At CR 63+ with well-built exotic weapons, solo completion is considered consistent by experienced players.

Standing on the broken wall inside the barn during the Disciple-type enemy wave provides a line-of-sight advantage. Moving to the top of the tower during zone-capture phases removes the Disciple threat entirely.

Completing a Glitch Fracture rewards the player with a Nightmare Skill, a powerful passive upgrade. Nightmare Skills work similarly to Exotic Skills obtained from World Events:

  • Only one Nightmare Skill can be equipped at a time
  • Each Nightmare Skill can be upgraded twice
  • Fully upgrading a Nightmare Skill increases Combat Rating by 3 (from CR 63 to CR 66)
