Nightmare Zones
Nightmare Zones, also referred to as Zone V, are the highest-difficulty area in Endgame. They were introduced with Season Two Reloaded alongside the Exotic Fabricator and Nightmare Skill tracks.
What is a Nightmare Zone
Section titled “What is a Nightmare Zone”A Nightmare Zone is a circular high-threat area that activates on the map when a Guild Strike boss fight begins. It remains active for the rest of the match regardless of whether the boss is defeated.
The zone has a recommended Combat Rating of CR 55, making it the hardest territory in Avalon. It contains the strongest enemy variants found in the game and offers the highest Power rewards for activities, assignments, and enemy kills completed within it.
Enemies
Section titled “Enemies”Nightmare Zone enemies are the most powerful in the game. Expect heavy elite presence and coordinated encounters that are difficult to handle at low Combat Ratings.
Mega Abomination: The Mega Abomination is the standout enemy type in this zone. After the Guild Strike boss is defeated, the Mega Abomination respawns within the Nightmare Zone and can be killed repeatedly for the remainder of the match. Defeating the Mega Abomination drops an Exotic Cache, making it one of the most reliable exotic weapon sources available.
Power Cubes
Section titled “Power Cubes”Blue Power Cubes spawn throughout the Nightmare Zone and are worth 750 Power each. This is significantly higher than standard Power pickups found in lower zones. A community PSA confirmed this value in a widely shared post.
Collecting Power Cubes is one of the fastest ways to gain Combat Rating progress during a single match if you are already in the Nightmare Zone fighting the boss and farming enemies.
Exotic Fabricator
Section titled “Exotic Fabricator”
The Exotic Fabricator spawns in the Nightmare Zone after the Guild Strike boss is defeated. It allows you to upgrade any weapon to Exotic rarity, or reroll the traits on a weapon already at Exotic rarity.
For full details on how to use the Exotic Fabricator, see Exotics and Affinities.
Key mechanics:
- Upgrading a weapon to Exotic rarity applies a 3.5x damage multiplier.
- If the weapon is already Exotic, the first fabricator use adds a Utility Bonus. A second use adds an Exotic Effect.
- Further uses allow re-rolling either the Effect or Bonus.
- O.S.C.A.R. originally respawned every 10 minutes, allowing multiple Fabricator uses per match. This was removed in Season 3 Reloaded. You now get 2 Fabricator uses per game (one per Guild Strike boss).
Glitch Fractures
Section titled “Glitch Fractures”After a Guild Strike boss is defeated, the location of a Glitch Fracture is revealed on the tac map. Interacting with it transports your squad into a standalone challenge activity. Completing a Glitch Fracture rewards a Nightmare Skill and counts as an exfil if you are in a difficult spot.
For full details, see Glitch Fracture.
Nightmare Skill tracks
Section titled “Nightmare Skill tracks”Nightmare Skills are a special category of skill track introduced with Season Two Reloaded. They can only be obtained by completing a Glitch Fracture. Like Exotic Skills, they can be upgraded twice after earning them, and fully upgrading a Nightmare Skill increases your Combat Rating by 3.
For the full list of Nightmare Skills and their descriptions, see Nightmare Skills.
