Skill Track Rerolling

Skill tracks are selected at CR 1, CR 6, and CR 16. At each point the game presents two tracks and the player chooses one. Understanding how this system behaves is essential for obtaining specific tracks.

See the Skill Tracks Overview for descriptions of all 9 regular tracks.

At CR 1, CR 6, and CR 16, the game generates a pair of tracks from the available pool. The player selects one track and begins leveling it.

After all three selection points, an operator has:

  • 3 active skill tracks
  • 6 remaining tracks that were not selected

During Season 1 and Season 2, the community widely believed that the unchosen track at each choice point was permanently blocked on that operator. This was treated as fact by most guides and players at the time.

Since Season 3, multiple players have confirmed that previously rejected tracks can appear again. The mechanic either changed with a patch or was never as absolute as believed.

Even though permanent blocking is not in effect, many players report seeing the same 3-4 tracks repeatedly for dozens of attempts. The selection RNG does not appear to be purely uniform. Community observations suggest the system uses some form of weighted randomness or a pool-per-reset mechanism, where the available options only shift after completing and resetting a track.

This creates the strong impression of blocking even when all tracks are technically obtainable.

At CR 60, a track can be reset. Resetting reduces the operator’s CR by 16 and removes the track from the active slots.

After resetting, the next time the game offers a choice at the appropriate CR milestone, it draws from the available tracks. A full operator CR reset to 0 appears to fully reset the available pool.

If a skill selection is presented and neither option is desirable, it is possible to quit the game before confirming a selection. On relaunch, the game generates a new random pair from the same pool. This allows repeated attempts without committing to an unwanted track.

A common frustration is receiving the same 3-4 tracks repeatedly when rerolling. The exact cause is unclear, but the selection system appears to favor a limited subset of tracks until the pool is disrupted.

Does resetting a track reset Combat Rating permanently?
No. Resetting a skill track reduces CR by 16 temporarily. The CR is regained by completing activities normally.
Does wiping an operator reset CR?
Yes. Wiping an operator (dying without extracting) resets that operator’s CR to zero.
Why do the same 3-4 tracks keep appearing?
The selection system appears to use weighted randomness or a limited pool that only shifts after completing and resetting a track. This is not permanent blocking. The workaround described in “Breaking Out of a Stuck Pool” above is the most reliable way to get new options.
Is Eagle Eye or Bulldozer harder to get?
Both are highly sought and players report similar difficulty obtaining either. The weighted RNG means long streaks without seeing a specific track are common, but both are obtainable with enough attempts or by using the max-and-reset workaround.
