Map Traversal and Movement
Moving efficiently across Avalon is one of the most discussed mechanics in the community. The map is large and zones are far apart, so your movement choice has a real impact on how much you can accomplish per run. This page covers the two core movement abilities, the Blood Burner vehicle, and community-discovered tricks.
Movement abilities overview
Section titled “Movement abilities overview”Two minor abilities handle the bulk of traversal in Endgame: Kinetic Jump and Grappling Hook. Both are unlocked by default. Choosing between them depends on your playstyle and the zone you are pushing into.
Kinetic Jump launches you to extreme heights. The longer you hold the button before releasing, the higher you go. Landing stuns nearby enemies, which can be useful in close quarters.
Key properties:
- Hold longer for greater height. A short tap gives minimal lift. A full hold sends you well above rooftops.
- Most reliable option for vertical movement, including reaching elevated positions and rooftops quickly.
- The landing stun can briefly stop Fears and lighter enemies near your landing point.
- Pairs well with wingsuit gliding to cover large horizontal distances from altitude.
When to use it: Kinetic Jump is the preferred choice for players who want consistent, controllable altitude gain. It is especially strong in Zone III and Zone IV where vertical terrain and multi-story structures are common. If you are unsure which ability to pick, Kinetic Jump is considered the more consistent option for general use.
Grappling Hook attaches to surfaces and pulls you toward the anchor point. It is faster than Kinetic Jump for covering horizontal ground quickly, particularly across open stretches.
Key properties:
- Speed advantage over Kinetic Jump for long flat distances.
- Useful for reaching the Colossus back entrance, though a Redeploy Drone also works. The foot portal is an alternative entry.
- Less useful than Kinetic Jump for pure vertical movement, since it requires a surface to anchor to.
- Cooldown applies between uses.
When to use it: Grappling Hook is the better choice when you need to close horizontal distance fast or access specific structures. Players who push Zone IV frequently, or who run Colossus of Avalon regularly, tend to prefer the Grappling Hook for its speed and the Colossus access requirement.
Movement Tips
Section titled “Movement Tips”Lightspeed on your melee weapon
Section titled “Lightspeed on your melee weapon”Running the Lightspeed utility bonus on your melee weapon gives you a movement speed boost equivalent to the Daredevil skill track, without occupying a skill track slot.
The practical effect: you can run Eagle Eye, Gunner, or Bulldozer in the skill track slot you would have spent on Daredevil, while still keeping fast movement speed via your melee weapon. Pair it with Grappling Hook for a high-mobility build that does not sacrifice combat effectiveness.
Bleed-out respawn trick
Section titled “Bleed-out respawn trick”Intentionally bleeding out and respawning is faster than using manual redeploy. More importantly, respawning via bleed-out gives you full wingsuit height and speed, allowing you to cover significant ground in the air every time you drop back in.
Experienced players use this as a deliberate repositioning tool, especially when moving between distant zones.
When to use it: If you are in a low-value area with little left to do, bleeding out and respawning into a higher zone can be more efficient than traveling on foot or by vehicle.
VTOL ride method
Section titled “VTOL ride method”Certain activities spawn a VTOL aircraft, including Guild Checkpoints and Guild Charge Stations. Players can jump on top of the VTOL as it arrives or takes off. Once it reaches altitude, use Kinetic Jump to launch off and deploy your wingsuit. This gives maximum wingsuit height without needing to bleed out.
Using the open-and-close wingsuit technique (rapidly toggling the wingsuit), it is possible to fly across the entire map without touching the ground. This method works with any activity that calls in a VTOL.
Exfil VTOLs can also be used this way. Call in an exfil, jump on top of the VTOL, and jump off at the last moment before it departs. This puts you in freefall at maximum height without consuming the exfil.
Redeploy drones
Section titled “Redeploy drones”Yellow redeploy drones are placed at fixed locations across Avalon. Interacting with one launches your operator into the air, activating the wingsuit. Combined with the open-close wingsuit technique (rapidly toggling the wingsuit to maintain altitude), a single redeploy drone can cover the entire map.
Key locations include a centrally placed drone in Zone 2 on the mountain, which can reach most points on the map in one glide. Other drones are scattered near landmarks like the lighthouse, Colosseum, and zone transition areas.
Redeploy drones are considered a full replacement for the Daredevil skill track by some players. Learning drone locations and the wingsuit toggle technique allows dropping Daredevil in favor of a combat-focused skill track while maintaining fast map traversal.
Blood Burner
Section titled “Blood Burner”The Blood Burner is a mystical motorcycle spawned via a Minor Ability unlocked by eliminating 500 Nightmare Zone enemies. Running over enemies charges a special area-of-effect attack.
Unlike Kinetic Jump and Grappling Hook, the Blood Burner is a separate unlockable minor ability. It requires a specific grind, occupies your minor ability slot, and offers less flexibility in vertical terrain. It is best suited for flat zones or players who want a combined traversal and combat tool.
Wingsuit
Section titled “Wingsuit”Every operator begins each match by dropping into Avalon via wingsuit. You are dropped into the zone best suited to your current Combat Rating, but you can fly to any part of the map during the descent.
The wingsuit also activates when respawning. Using the Daredevil skill track (or Lightspeed on melee as described above) improves wingsuit handling and hang time, letting you cover more ground during each drop.
Vehicles
Section titled “Vehicles”Five ground vehicles are available in Endgame. They are useful for transporting squads and completing certain activities, but they are not competitive with Kinetic Jump or Grappling Hook for solo traversal.
| Vehicle | Seats | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Polaris Sportsman XP 1000 | 1 driver + 1 passenger | Lightweight ATV |
| Polaris RZR PRO R 4 | 1 driver + 3 passengers | Four-seat buggy |
| LTV | 1 driver + 3 passengers + cargo | Standard tactical truck |
| LTV (Machine Gun) | 1 driver + 3 passengers + 1 gunner + cargo | Armed variant |
| Cargo Truck | 1 driver + 1 passenger + flatbed | Slowest option |
| Tactical Raft | 1 driver + 3 passengers | Water crossings |
The Gunboat was available at launch but was removed on November 20th, 2025 due to performance issues.
