Exotic Fabricator

The Exotic Fabricator is a crafting machine in BO7 Endgame that allows players to upgrade weapons to exotic rarity and reroll exotic traits. It is one of the most important systems for players seeking to maximize a specific weapon rather than relying on named exotic drops.

Exotic Fabricator station in the Nightmare Zone
Exotic Fabricator
A machine that spawns in the map after a Guild Strike (Nightmare Zone) boss is defeated. It upgrades any weapon to exotic rarity and allows rerolling of exotic traits. Only players who participated in the boss fight can use it.
Exotic Weapon Case
A loot drop, not a machine. Found after completing high-tier activities or defeating elite enemies. Opening it presents a selection of named exotic weapons to choose from. It does not upgrade existing weapons.

These two systems are frequently confused. The Fabricator upgrades a weapon the player already has. The Exotic Weapon Case provides a new named exotic from a loot pool.

The Fabricator spawns after the defeat of a Guild Strike boss in the Nightmare Zone (Zone V). Guild Strikes are Activities that become available at specific timer points during a match. After the boss is eliminated, the Fabricator appears at the boss location and remains accessible for participating players.

For more on Guild Strike mechanics, see Guild Strikes.

The Fabricator interaction follows a fixed sequence based on the current rarity of the weapon being used.

  1. Approach the Fabricator after the Guild Strike boss is defeated. Only players who dealt damage to the boss can interact.

  2. Select the weapon to upgrade or modify. Any weapon in the player’s loadout can be chosen, including field-acquired weapons.

  3. If the weapon is below exotic rarity, the first interaction upgrades it to exotic rarity (applying the 3.5x damage multiplier). No traits are added yet.

  4. On the second interaction with the same weapon, the Fabricator adds a Utility Bonus to the second trait slot.

  5. On the third interaction, the Fabricator adds an Exotic Effect (round type) to the first trait slot.

  6. All subsequent interactions with the same exotic weapon allow rerolling either the Utility Bonus or the Exotic Effect. Each reroll replaces the selected trait with a new random one from the available pool for that weapon class.

Upgrading a weapon to exotic rarity at the Fabricator applies the same 3.5x damage multiplier as a named exotic. A weapon upgraded through the Fabricator performs comparably to a named exotic of the same base weapon type in terms of raw damage.

After a weapon reaches full exotic status (both traits filled), every Fabricator interaction offers a reroll of either the Utility Bonus or the Exotic Effect. Rerolls are random within the available pool for the weapon class.

Key reroll facts from community research:

  • Rerolling the Utility Bonus does not affect the Exotic Effect and vice versa
  • There is no guaranteed way to land on a specific trait without multiple rerolls
  • Each Guild Strike boss kill produces one Fabricator use per player, so maximizing reroll attempts requires completing multiple Guild Strikes in a single match

For Utility Bonus availability by weapon class, see Utility Bonuses. For named exotic traits and affinity bonuses, see Named Exotics and Exotics and Affinities.

Affinity-exclusive utility bonuses (Starburst, Firewheel, Black Hole, Warp, Lightning Strike, Chain Lightning, Big Game, etc.) cannot be rolled on loadout weapons at the Fabricator. They only appear on Named Exotics that dropped from an Exotic Weapon Case with their matching affinity exotic effect already in the first slot.

If you find an affinity exotic, you can take it to the Fabricator and reroll its Utility Bonus to try for a different affinity-exclusive bonus. This only works if you have not previously accepted a different reroll on that weapon.

Named exotics found from Exotic Caches come with a predefined name, a unique camo, and two random traits. Fabricator-upgraded weapons do not receive a name or unique camo, but their traits are customizable through rerolling. This makes the Fabricator the preferred path for players who want a specific weapon type with specific traits, rather than relying on cache drop RNG.

See Named Exotics for the full list of named exotic weapons and their base affinities.
