Glossary
This page defines all major terms used in BO7 Endgame. Terms are listed alphabetically. Each term links to its full wiki page where one exists.
- Activity
- The most common objective type on Avalon. Activities activate automatically when a player approaches their map marker. Completing an Activity earns Power and loot. All 17 Activity types scale in reward value based on the zone they are located in.
- Affinity Exotic
- A named exotic weapon that dropped with its matching Exotic Effect already in the first slot. Affinity status unlocks a set of exclusive Utility Bonus options at the Exotic Fabricator. See Exotics and Affinities.
- Amalgam
- An elite Cradle creature found in high-difficulty zones.
- Assignment
- A multi-step mission picked up from a marked location on Avalon. Assignments take longer to complete than Activities but offer greater Power and loot rewards. Zone scaling applies: the same Assignment in Zone IV pays out significantly more than in Zone I.
- Combat Rating (CR)
- The primary operator progression stat. CR measures power level, unlocks Skill Tracks, and determines zone viability. Maximum CR is 66, built from base progression, three Skill Tracks, one Exotic Skill, and one Nightmare Skill. Dying without a Restore Token costs 15 CR and strips equipped weapons. Each operator has independent CR.
- Cradle
- The alien organism spreading across Avalon and powering the Endgame narrative. The Cradle is the source of enemy mutations, zone contamination, and the match timer. When the match timer expires, the Cradle floods the remaining area and begins draining operators’ health.
- Exotic Effect
- One of the two trait slots on an exotic-rarity weapon. The Exotic Effect is the primary active trait, such as Shock Rounds, Frost Rounds, or Mortar Rounds. It occupies the first slot on the weapon and determines affinity status for named exotics.
- Exotic Fabricator
- A crafting station that spawns in the Nightmare Zone after a Guild Strike boss is defeated. It upgrades any weapon to exotic rarity, adding a 3.5x damage multiplier. On weapons already at exotic rarity, the Fabricator adds or rerolls Utility Bonuses and Exotic Effects. The Fabricator is the primary path to optimizing an exotic weapon’s traits. Distinct from an Exotic Weapon Case.
- Exotic Skill
- A special Skill Track obtained by completing a World Event. Exotic Skills are more powerful than the nine standard tracks. Only one can be equipped per operator. Fully upgrading an Exotic Skill adds 3 CR, extending the maximum from 60 to 63.
- Exotic Weapon Case
- A loot item that allows the player to select a named exotic weapon from the available pool. Distinct from the Exotic Fabricator: the Fabricator upgrades a weapon you already own, while the Weapon Case gives you a new named exotic. Also called an Exotic Cache. Drops from Guild Strike boss kills, Gideon Falkner, and Zone III and IV activities.
- Exfil
- The act of extracting from a match by boarding a VTOL at a marked extraction point. A successful exfil preserves Combat Rating and any equipped weapons. Extraction points can only be used once per match. Dying without exfiling costs 15 CR and strips your equipped weapons unless a Restore Token is active.
- Fear
- A Cradle-origin enemy type. Fears are mutated creatures distinct from Guild soldiers. They appear across all zones but become more prevalent and dangerous in higher zones and inside Glitch Fractures. Specific variants include Scourge, Infester, Shifter, Mauler, Specter, and Haunt.
- Glitch Fracture
- A special high-difficulty activity that transports players into a location outside the Avalon map, using spaces from the Black Ops 7 campaign. Completing a Glitch Fracture rewards a Nightmare Skill and counts as a successful exfil. Requires completing Step 10 of Operation Poison Pill and defeating a Guild Strike boss in the same match to access.
- Guild Strike
- The highest-difficulty Activity type. Guild Strikes trigger at the 45:15 match timer and task players with defeating a Guild Strike Boss at a specific map location. Completing a Guild Strike spawns an Exotic Fabricator, activates a Nightmare Zone, and reveals a Glitch Fracture on the Tac Map. Two Guild Strikes occur per match.
- Haunt
- A Fear-type enemy. Haunts are encountered in Zone III and above. They are agile and attack with ranged or teleporting behavior. A more dangerous variant than base Fear types found in lower zones.
- Infester
- A Fear-type enemy. Infesters are smaller Cradle creatures that attack in groups. They can overwhelm players if ignored and often appear alongside larger Fear types.
- Mauler
- A Fear-type enemy. Maulers are large, heavily built Cradle creatures that deal high melee damage. They have elevated health compared to standard Fear variants and appear in Zones III and above.
- Mega Abomination
- A boss-tier enemy that spawns inside the Nightmare Zone after the Guild Strike boss is defeated. The Mega Abomination drops a guaranteed Exotic Cache on kill. It can be farmed repeatedly for the remainder of the match after initial spawn. Recommended CR 55+.
- Named Exotic
- An exotic-rarity weapon obtained from an Exotic Weapon Case. Named exotics have a unique name, a preset camo, and two random traits. They share the same 3.5x damage multiplier as Fabricator-upgraded exotics. Each named exotic has an affinity tied to a specific Exotic Effect.
- Nightmare Skill
- A special Skill Track obtained by completing a Glitch Fracture. Nightmare Skills are among the most powerful passive upgrades available. Only one can be equipped per operator. Fully upgrading a Nightmare Skill adds 3 CR, extending the maximum from 63 to 66.
- Nightmare Zone
- The highest-difficulty area on Avalon, also referred to as Zone V. A Nightmare Zone activates at a Guild Strike location when the boss fight begins. It contains the strongest enemies in the game, the Exotic Fabricator, the Mega Abomination, and Power Cubes worth 750 Power each. Recommended CR 55.
- Power
- The progression resource used to advance Combat Rating. Earned from completing Activities, Assignments, World Events, and eliminating enemies. Power yields scale with zone: higher zones provide significantly more Power per objective. Nightmare Zone Power Cubes are worth 750 Power each.
- Restore Token
- A consumable item that prevents CR loss when an operator dies before extracting. Tokens are activated on the pre-match loadout screen and consumed on death. They do not protect against CR loss from an operator wipe. Obtained from the Battle Pass and operation rewards.
- Scourge
- A Fear-type enemy. Scourges are fast, medium-health Cradle creatures that appear across most zones. They are one of the more common Fear variants encountered during Activities and open-world exploration.
- Shifter
- A Fear-type enemy. Shifters can teleport or rapidly change position, making them harder to track than standard Fear types. They appear in Zones II and above.
- Skill Track
- A passive upgrade set that increases an operator’s combat effectiveness. Each operator acquires three Skill Tracks during a run, selected at CR 1, CR 6, and CR 16. Two tracks are offered at each choice point. There are 9 regular tracks plus separate Exotic Skill and Nightmare Skill categories.
- Specter
- A Fear-type enemy. Specters are incorporeal or semi-visible Cradle creatures with ranged attack patterns. They appear in higher zones and Glitch Fractures.
- Upgraded Exotic
- An exotic-rarity weapon that was upgraded from a lower rarity using the Exotic Fabricator, as distinct from a named exotic that dropped directly from an Exotic Weapon Case. Both types carry the same 3.5x damage multiplier and can have traits rerolled at the Fabricator.
- Utility Bonus
- One of the two trait slots on an exotic-rarity weapon. The Utility Bonus occupies the second slot and provides a secondary effect. Examples include Sharpshooter and Explosive Rounds. Affinity exotics have access to exclusive Utility Bonus options tied to their affinity type. See Exotics and Affinities.
- World Event
- A large-scale, high-difficulty encounter that appears once per match at a fixed map location. World Events are balanced for multiple players. Completing one rewards an Exotic Skill. Examples include the Toxic Tyrant and T-Rex world event encounters.
