Avalon Zones
Avalon is the primary map for Endgame in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. It is set on the Mediterranean coast and serves as a large open environment divided into five tiered zones of increasing difficulty.
Zone overview
Section titled “Zone overview”Avalon is divided into four main zones and one end-game zone. Each zone has a recommended Combat Rating. You can travel to any zone freely from the start of a match, but enemies and activities scale to zone difficulty.
| Zone | Recommended CR | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Zone I | CR 0 | Entry level. Basic Guild enemies, low threat. |
| Zone II | CR 10 | Moderate enemies. Activities reward improved loot. |
| Zone III | CR 30 | Tougher enemy mix including specials. Better rewards. |
| Zone IV | CR 45 | High difficulty. Elites, Command Centers, Gideon Falkner’s island facility. |
| Nightmare / Zone V | CR 55 | Highest difficulty. Appears after a Guild Strike boss fight. Strongest enemies, best rewards. |
What scales per zone
Section titled “What scales per zone”Zone difficulty affects multiple systems throughout a match:
- Enemy difficulty increases with each zone. Zone IV introduces elite-class enemies and Titan-class units inside Command Centers. Nightmare Zone enemies are the strongest in the game.
- Activity and Assignment rewards scale up in higher zones. The same activity type completed in Zone IV pays out significantly more Power and higher-rarity loot than the same activity in Zone I.
- Exotic Weapon Case drop rate improves in higher zones. Exotic Caches can drop from Zone IV activities, Zone III and above Toxin Field completions, and from Zone IV elite enemies.
- World Events are tied to specific areas of the map rather than zones, but they are high-difficulty encounters balanced for multiple players regardless of zone.
Objectives across zones
Section titled “Objectives across zones”All three objective types (Activities, Assignments, and World Events) can be found across Avalon. Their loot scales to the zone they are completed in.
- Activities start when you approach their location. They are the fastest and least rewarding category.
- Assignments are multi-step missions picked up in the world. They take more time but reward more.
- World Events are large-scale, once-per-match encounters requiring multiple players. They provide the highest-tier loot.
For a full list of activities and assignments, see Activities and Assignments.
Map features and recreations
Section titled “Map features and recreations”Avalon contains recreations of multiplayer maps from previous Black Ops titles. These are functional areas within the open world rather than standalone modes.

- Nightmare Zone: A circular zone that activates when a Guild Strike boss fight begins. It remains for the rest of the match. See Nightmare Zones.
- Command Centers: Guild-held installations found in higher zones. Clearing them is a primary activity. Titan-class enemies guard Command Centers in Zone IV.
